This portrait was painted from a photograph that had been taken by a professional photographer. The photograph itself was absolutely fantastic, Wonderful composition!
This is what the husband wanted a painting of, for it was to be a surprise for his wife. I enhanced the background and changed a few minor things so as to accomplish what I wanted to see in the painting. If you look closely you can see a subtle image of a heart. Starting at the front of the mothers head and following the back of her hair to her elbow, up the arm to the back of the baby’s head and then the background design takes over and joins the rest of the outline, of the heart, with the front of the mothers head. This only works because the image of the heart is very, very subtle.
