This painting was commissioned by The Pensacola Public Library. I created a whimsical composition using the blue heron as the subject. The fish on the front of the book is a mullet and is a local favorite. The abstract design of rectangles at the bottom of the painting is actually the windows on the front part of The Pensacola Public Library. This idea came from a wonderful suggestion that my wife made. ( Thanks Sherry ) I wanted to personalize the painting without putting in the actual library building itself. Sherry suggested picking out a shape that might represent the library. I loved the suggestion and I love how this painting turned out. To me this is a portrait of the Pensacola Public Library.
