This was another portrait that was commissioned by Jean . I had painted the entire family earlier. This time Jean wanted to surprise his wife Elise with a portrait of her running. Jean and I tried to get a photo of Elise running without her knowing it. Once when I was literally waiting in the bushes trying to get a photograph of her, as she jogged by, the sprinkler system came on and all I got was wet. This went on for weeks and still no success. Elise would jog all around Pensacola but had no specific route or specific time. This is what made it so difficult. Jean finally decided to let Elise in on the surprise and I was able to get the photograph that I needed. I would jog ahead of her, stop, and photograph her as she went by . This went on for a little while until I used all my film. I got a lot of exercise with this one. The result was a painting of Elise in the morning, jogging along the shoreline of Pensacola Bay, specifically Hawkshaw Lagoon. Jean and Elise loves the piece and so do I.
